August 8, 2021The predecessor to The Napier Co. was The E. A. Bliss Co. Like The Napier Co., The E. A. Bliss Co. designed and manufactured a plethora of items. It became known around the world for its exquisite women’s handbags and belt buckles. Shown here is a very simple soldered mesh purse along with a jeweled belt buckle and belt stay. Simple yet elegant, these pieces most likely were worn with an evening costume. The purse dates to the 1910s. The belt buckle and stay date to the late 19th-early 20th century. The E. A.
